Text getting cut off in objects and moving when a saved file is reopened

Text in some controls seems really buggy, sometimes when I re-open a saved file text has moved slightly or it becomes cut off. Usually resizing the object solves this but it is a pain having to re-size / align things each time you open a file.

Now I'm working in a mockup and I copied and pasted a button. The pasted version does not display the last word of text, yet if you double click it to edit the full text is there. Resizing in this case makes no difference.

Attached screen shot shows the original button, the pasted version and a resized pasted version which are both missing the last word of the text.

Hi, Spencer. Sorry about that.

I can replicate the bug if I zoom in 1 time but only then. Is that the case for you? I will report this as I see it now.

In my case I don't think it was related to zoom, although messing about now zooming does seem to sometimes cause similar problems. Thanks for such a quick response.

Hmm. I can't replicate when at 1:1, so I might need more information or a test file with the component you're using to replicate.

Is there anything else you can tell us with exact steps so we can replicate the bug?
- Does this happen all the time?
- Are you copy/pasting within the same document?

Michael you're right, this does seem related to zoom after all. If I zoom in the text drops off all instances of the button. If I zoom out and then copy and paste then the text only drops off the pasted button (the original image I supplied was zoomed out only level). Also I just noticed that switching to another open document tab and then back seems to sort the display out.

I would say that the more I look at this, the more I think this is totally a separate bug than the thing I mentioned about layout changing when re-opening a saved document. Next time that happens I note all I can and file a separate bug.

OK, good! Then we have the steps to reproduce the bug. Thanks for checking. I'm confident we'll fix this one for for an upcoming release.

I'm getting tons of these kinds of issues, and they seem to change at various zoom sizes. Is there an eta on getting a fix pushed live? Thanks, it's really appreciated!

The good news is that we're announcing a pre-release today introducing a new embedded font designed to work in all of our versions of Mockups. The font replaces Comic Sans on Windows, and Chalkboard on the Mac, and fixes the nasty text clipping bug introduced by a Flash upgrade.

If you want to try the pre-release, you can install it here:

http://balsamiq.com/products/mockups/...

After you've played with it, if you want to roll back to the stable release, simply go to the download page and re-install using the Update button here:

http://balsamiq.com/download

We have some more info to describe all of the issues this fixes, and how this may impact existing Mockups here:

http://balsamiq.com/support/font

Please have a look and let us know if you need any more info or help.
