Today I had given a mockup to someone on my team to start coding. I gave them a BMML file and told them to start on the html and css coding. - Great.
Later I met with him and he was puzzled why I was talking so much about fieldsets (a new feature in 1.5) as part of my design. He exclaimed there we no fieldsets specified in my design, and it took us a while to figure out how he could be so confused.
Then we realized it was because he had a older version of Mockups that did not support this new feature.
It would be a good enhancement to notify the user when they load a BMML, that the mockup contains unknown UI elements, and that it might be a good idea to upgrade.

Inappropriate?I think its important to note that we caught this early enough so that the coding was not wasted. However I could see the danger if someone was looking at an older version and coded it accordingly.

Inappropriate?Very good point Michael, I think it should also be fairly quick to implement. It's on the list!
I’m thankful

Inappropriate? It would be useful to notify users whenever a new version is available. I have been using it for 6 months and only realized today that I could get a new version. I had assumed that it would tell me when I launched it. I'd rather not check the website all the time to learn about new versions.

Inappropriate?Hi Michael, I forgot to mention it here, but I have fixed this a little while ago. Now if you open a mockup that has data in it that's not recognized, you'll see a little alert with the following text in it:
"This mockup contains an unrecognized UI control type (foo). Perhaps it's time to install an updated version of Mockups?"
We were thinking of adding a link to the "Check for Updates" dialog on this alert, once we code that feature of course... :)
