Text formatting helper
I have posted in this idea before, but perhaps it was too confusing so let me try again:
Many of the UI controls now offer the ability to embed special formatting (links, checkboxes, options, etc) right inside the text. It's quite amazing capability.
However, many keep forgetting the syntax after you edit the control. I propose that when entering text, you can have a little combo box for quick access of compatible text formats. Clicking these will insert the corresponding text.
As you can see above, right when your editing your text you have quick access to the formatting that is available for you to use in your UI component.

Inappropriate?Hi Michael, I was thinking of doing this instead:
(the "more >" would rarely be needed, perhaps only for the Tree control).
I think it's faster than having to move the mouse to use a pulldown.
Thoughts?

It would be great if the items in the help box were clickable and clicking on it would insert it directly into the text editor. I also like how the original proposed concept doesn't show you the wiki text but the control you get from the wiki text ( i think this is more logical) to show me what I get not how to get it. -
I like this approach. Perhaps the icon could also be included in the legend?
I also quite like the idea of clicking on one of the entries also inserting the text - although most the time I think I'd still type. -

Inappropriate?I think a nice touch would also be to change the color or highlight the syntax some other way.
for example [x] and [ ] would be blue.
I think this would help reduce the number of times I mistype... or something other than I expect occurs!
