Save mockups as cloneable widgets in other mockups
We have a bunch of custom widgets that are used frequently on our web app. Most of them we could easily mockup as a single balsamiq mockup, however we'd then like to repeat them in multiple bigger mockups. Is it possible to copy sub/widget-mockups into full screen mockups? ie: create a separate mockup/mashup of our widget and then copy that into multiple other full screen mockups.

Inappropriate?Hi Tref, we (some customers and I) are working on a new "Image Upload" feature which I hope will help: http://getsatisfaction.com/balsamiq/t...
Once that's in, you could:
- Create your widget (with Mockups or whatever other tool you like)
- Export it as an image
- Import the image
- Duplicate (or copy/paste) the image control
Would that work? It's a bit convoluted, but possible! :)
Thoughts?

Inappropriate?Hi Giacomo,
Yep, I saw the "Image Upload" project discussions. It would come close to working for us. The only thing we'd miss would be any widget specific configurations that might have been contained within the component bits of our new mashup widget.
Definitely a step closer though.
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?Wouldn't the "copy & paste" from open Widget Mockups into the larger open full screen Mockup work for this. It would keep all components as free to be adjusted through it's components attibute dialogs once the Widgets were dropped-in. And with the "locking in place" after the widget is placed on the larger Mockup would insure some permanence.

Inappropriate?Hi there, I just added a "merge" feature which might help with this: http://www.balsamiq.com/blog/?p=213
I’m happy

Thanks! This is a great feature. I can now do "side-by-side" mockups of before and after Clients change their minds (which almost never happens -- right?)
