How to use mockups to simulate Ajax-based behavior?
I want to be able to create mockups showing what happens for specific events or user actions...e.g, if I click on a button, Ajax may display another box below.
What is a best-practice for doing that? Is it to create a clone and add a version and then link to that (e.g. "Original Mockup" and "Original Mockup After Pressing 'Add' Button")?
Wondering how people are creating fully interactive mockups to test User Experience and flow....

Inappropriate?I don't make full interactivity.
The gui prototype captures the intent of the product and better to stay incomplete.
I would place the the box into an separate mockup, export as PNG and insert into the original using the image widget
By this way the image can refresh itself after you updated the box part.

Inappropriate?Hi Timothy, you're right Mockups is not focused on big interactive mockups. We focus on the early-stage brainstorming and feedback gathering phase, at least for now. Have you tried Axure RP, Flash Catalyst or MS Sketchflow? Those might be better suited for your needs, but they cost about 10x what Mockups does.

Hi Vladimir, our view on this hasn't changed, if that's what you're asking. Linking is pretty much as far as we plan to go.

Inappropriate?You should also be building your app with Progressive Enhancement so that AJAX and other Javascript interactions will fail gracefully.
Perhaps your mockup can only show the fall back.
