How do I draw a happy face or sad face?

How do I draw a happy face or sad face? I don't know how to draw the mouth. I can't use icons b/c I need to face to be a vector.

Or for a smoother curve you could use a geometric shape oval/circle with a borderless rectangle over the top half to crop the top of the circle and form the mouth curve. In the image below there are 4 geometric shape circles (and you can just about see the white rectangle cropping the circle that forms the mouth) :)
