Export pdf dialogs does not store changed file location
Whe exporting a mockup to pdf the export to dialog opens always at the default path, also when I exported a pdf to an other location before. I would be fine balsamiq would use my changed path, when reopening.

Inappropriate?Hi Patrick, the application should remember the folder of the last Export All command.
Are you on the latest version of Mockups? Currently it's 1.6.58 http://www.balsamiq.com/products/mock...
What is your operating system?

Thanks for the info. I will try to reproduce it on XP.
Does it remember the folder when you export PNG snapshots?

When I use "Export All Snapshots ..." than I could define a folder anywhere starting at the Balsamiq Mockups folder and this new folder will be stored when I reopen.
If i "Use Export Snapshots to PNG file" than Balsamiq uses the location of the bmml file -
Oh I just recorgnized the "Export All to pdf..." uses the last path of "Export All Snapshots..." -
Inappropriate?Hi Patrick, it was definitely a bug.
It is fixed in the Next version at this address: http://www.balsamiq.com/products/mock...
The fix will go in the main release of this week.

Inappropriate?Hi Marco,
I tried it and it works fine for pdf alone..But the "Export All Snapshots..." overrules the pdf path. For me this looks a little bit strange, because I store the png files in an other folder than the pdf's. So I would expect, that both functionalities are independ. But maybe you should ask other guys, if they work the same way.
I’m unsure

Hi Patrick, we are unsure of that ourselves...I wonder if someone else will chime in? -
Inappropriate?I can reproduce the problem with v1.6.58, on XP SP3 here. In fact, I came to the forum looking to report this as a bug, or to find the affordance that I had missed.
The Export All to PDF command is defaulting to the folder in which I put the very first PDF I created shortly after discovering the feature in a toy mockup. Now I'm trying to build a much more complicated mockup of a real project, and its been frustrating to have to navigate to the right place every time.
Following the hints in this thread, I did an Export All Snapshots on this mockup for the first time and browsed to a suitable folder. Now it looks like Export All to PDF is defaulting to that location.
This is a useful work-around for me because the best location for the PNG snapshots is at least only one or two clicks away from the preferred location for the PDF export.
Peeking into the MockupsCookies.db file with sqlite reveals a cookie named exportAllTargetDirPath that appears to contain the offending folder as its value. From its name, it makes sense that both of the Export All... commands are defaulting to the same place. The bug is that 1.6.58 is only updating that cookie from the Export All Snapshots command, but is using it for Export All to PDF as well.
My preferred resolution to this would be to remember separate folders for each of the Export All... commands.
I’m unconcerned

Hi rberteig, thanks for the detailed report. We fixed the bug in 1.6.60, live now http://www.balsamiq.com/products/mock... - we still use the same path for both, but we'll split them soon since that's what most people seem to prefer (small sample, but still). ;) -
Thanks for the quick response! I do think that a separate memory for each export type will be the least surprising since there isn't a better choice for the project as a whole. -
Inappropriate?Hi there, the fix is now live: http://www.balsamiq.com/blog/2010/02/... - we now use separate paths for PDFs and PNGs
