Exact copy/paste
The way copy and paste works right now is annoying - copying from one mockup to another does not copy in exactly the same place, which means that if I'm trying to copy a common element, I then have to reposition it manually.

Inappropriate? The shifted Paste works best when the source mockup is the same as the destination one. You then want the pasted components not to go on the same exact position as the copied components.
I notice that right now, if you cut a selection and then pasted it in the same mockup, it will be shifted horizontally and vertically. Although indeed the user might position something in the same location in between the subsequent cut/paste operation, my personal feeling is that the location should not be shifted on a cut/paste sequence. Also in the case of cut/copy from Mockup 1 and paste into Mockup 2.
My little two tiny cents. :-) -
that's why we have paste in place...have you tried it? I think I'm missing the point of these questions... -
Inappropriate? No, I don't think you're missing the point. Paste in place is there, and it works great. I just look at it from a different angle. Sorry to bother!
-
Inappropriate?Yeah, you're right. I didn't even notice that paste in place is in there. I wouldn't expect the shift in regular copy/paste when I'm pasting into a new mockup.

Inappropriate?I have the same problem, even though I already know about CTRL+SHIFT+V.
The problem mainly comes about due to expectations set by other programs, I know that PowerPoint, for example, has the items paste into the same place when copying between slides. This is really useful as it allows me to copy common elements easily, as Eva recommends.
Beacuse I expect this behaviour, it is the first thing I do automatically. When I spot what has happened I know that I can use shift but it is gets annoying to have to redo the insert.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Hi guys, we're going to make it so that when you paste to a different mockup it will behave like a "paste in place"

this is one of the best points

Inappropriate? With latest Mockups, here's what I'm trying to do:
1. Create one mockup, clone it, so I have two similar mockups
2. Add a new control to one mockup
3. Select control, Copy
4. Paste control to other mockup
What I expect: control will be pasted in the same position as it was, so that these parts of the two mockups look similar.
What actually happens: the position is a bit to the right and down, so I have to manually nudge the pasted control into place.
This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled
Copy-pasting control to another mockup should preserve position.
I’m thankful we have Mockups!

Inappropriate?I would expect that if you paste into another mockup, then paste-in-place is assumed and used. However if you paste inside the same mockup, then regular paste is used.
That would solve everyones problem. -
Inappropriate?Agreed :-)

Inappropriate?Hi there, yes that's the plan, we'll try to fix this soon, like today maybe.
-
Inappropriate? Also, when pasting into another mock up, I cannot immediately move the pasted object with arrow keys, I have to click on it first, and then move it. Seems like a bug.

Definitely a bug. Just fixed it in the pre-release build (444). Try it here: http://www.balsamiq.com/products/mock... -
Inappropriate?Hi there, we indeed did fix this today: http://www.balsamiq.com/products/mock... to try it, going live tomorrow!
