Can't install Mockups on Fogbugz 7.
I am not able to install the Fogbugz plugin. We have Fogbugz 7 and I have downloaded the latest version of the plugin. The upload appears to work successfully but the Mockups plugin does not show up in the plugin list.
Other plugins can be installed and updated.
The fogbugz diagnostics shows everything working.

Inappropriate?Hello Peter, we'll look into this right away.

Inappropriate?Hello Peter, we'd like your help debugging this issue.
Two questions:
- can you check to see if you see the plugin's unzipped folder in the C:\Program Files\FogBugz\Plugins\cache folder?
- could you please look at the Windows Event Viewer (under Administration Tools) and see if you find any errors originating from either FogBugz or an "ASP.NET 2.0.xxx" application? If there's anything there, please send us the error, as it would tell us exactly what the issue is. I'm attaching an image taken from Vista (in Italian, sorry) to show the filter that should catch all relevant informations.
Thank you for the collaboration
Ciao
Marco

I assume this needs to be checked on the server? -
Inappropriate?I will get my systems administrator to check it out and report back.

Yes please. -
Inappropriate? So Fogbugz has actually given me an error message.
Plugin "MockupsFogBugz1.6.32 (1).zip" failed during reflection - Hide Notification
08/10/2009 3:55 AM (GMT-06:00): MockupsFogBugz1.6.32 (1).zip: Error loading plugin: No plugin assemblies found in MockupsFogBugz@balsamiq.com_10. See the plugins page for more information.
I downloaded the file last night just before midnight in Calgary. Windows reports the size as 3,981,332 bytes.
The MD5 hash of the zip file i uploaded is 1d5fe77e085a321b3e4fde3ee39c43cf.
I’m confused

Inappropriate? The size and hash of the file are good. The name has a " (1)" that shouldn't be there, but I am able to upload the plugin here without errors using that name.
To exclude completely a plugin file problem, here http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/41723/buil... is another copy of the plugin.
The problem appears to be in FogBugz itself. I contacted FogCreek team to get some help. In the meantime, can you please try to remove all files related to Balsamiq Mockups from the cache folder of FogBugz and upload the plugin again?
C:\Program Files\FogBugz\Plugins\cache -
Inappropriate?I did do an upload with the file without the (1) and it behaves the same. I will check on the cache and try again.

Inappropriate?Hi there,
I am a systems administrator for Peter and have managed to get the Mockups plugin installed into our FogBugz 7 server.
First, I took Marco's suggestions and went into the " C:\Program Files\FogBugz\Plugins\cache" folder and erased all the folders related to the Mockups plugin (there were a few folders from multiple installation attempts, all without any files in these folders).
After erasing them, I then went into the Windows Event Viewer to check for any errors (and there were none), so I then logged into our existing Fogbugz server again to try and reupload the Mockups plugin. There weren't any errors upon uploading, but the plugin did not appear in the list and eventually the server returned the error that Peter was getting before:
Plugin "MockupsFogBugz1.6.32 (1).zip" failed during reflection - Hide Notification 08/10/2009 3:55 AM (GMT-06:00): MockupsFogBugz1.6.32 (1).zip: Error loading plugin: No plugin assemblies found in MockupsFogBugz@balsamiq.com_10. See the plugins page for more information.
I then noticed that there was a new version of FogBugz available for download and thought I would give that a try as it might be an issue with FogBugz itself. We were running version 7.0.23 and now have upgraded to version 7.0.32.
After upgrading, I restarted our server instance (along with MySQL) and tried again to upload the plugin. This time I finally received an error when trying to do so (on the "upload plugin" popup page of FogBugz) which didn't appear with the previous version: The error read "Packets larger than max_allowed_packet are not allowed."
This obviously meant that I needed to increase the "max_allowed_packet" value in our MySQL setup. To do this, I shutdown our FogBugz webserver instance in the IIS Application Server, then turned off MySQL and then changed the MySQL configuration by using the MySQL System Tray Monitor -> Configure Instance -> Startup Variables -> Advanced Networking -> Checked "Max Packet Size" and increased the value from 1MB to 32MB.
Then, after restarting MySQL and FogBugz, I logged back on and installed the Mockups plugin without any issues. It seems to be working fine now (although Peter will need to confirm this for me).
So I'm guessing the issue all along was that the "max_allowed_packet" variable within MySQL was simply set too low, although upgrading to the latest version of FogBugz helped in pinpointing the exact problem.
Thanks for all your help,
Ryan Manning
I’m resolved.

Ryan, if there was a service that shipped free thank-you beers via Internet I'd be sending you a cold one your way right now. :)
Thanks SO much for doing all this work, now we'll know what this misterious bug is all about if it happens again.
Let me know if you'd like a free license for Mockups for Desktop to give away (makes for a great christmas present!): peldi@balsamiq.com - it will be my pleasure. -
Inappropriate? Not a problem ;) I'd totally take you up on that beer right now if I could!
