Balsamiq should have an object inventory palette
I would like an "inventory" screen that shows all of the objects in the mockup. Selecting an object should activate the property inspector for that object. This would allow the user to modify an object without unlocking, ungrouping, or changing z-order. This may also help resolve the contention in the drag selection model discussed in http://www.getsatisfaction.com/balsam....

Inappropriate?Hi Joe, thanks for the idea but I think it's a crutch. I'd rather fix the same problem in a different way, namely letting you double-click on a group to edit it, which I think is much more intuitive and doesn't require any new UI.
I’m hearing the problem loud and clear

Inappropriate? However the object list (text) idea is good in terms of fitting Balsamiq into a productive workflow. The concept bridges the sketch-designer's visual mindset with the developer's coding mindset.
Presenting the sketch to the development team triggers ideas for them ie. object names/notes can be added in the moment. Personally I find sticky notes distracting, albeit useful. After discussion and noting of issues etc. the mockup goes back to the sketch-artist, developer notes stay with the mockup, ready to access in the next phase.
