an "Annotations" layer
I find that while putting the "sticky notes" and arrows, it would be nice if the person viewing it (or even for my own purposes), I could toggle all comments on and off easily, so you could see the mockup as-is, then be able to see the commentary. For complicated pages, I find the comments start to obscure what the person viewing the mockup wants to get out of it.

Inappropriate? And also, if on this layer we can place not only arrows and comments, but other elements - it will be very good.
If layers will be as layers in photoshop and other such tools, it'll be great! -
Inappropriate?Hi Nathan, thanks for the feedback. Let me think about it...perhaps a "Show Markup Elements" toggle in the view menu would work...or at least get you 90% there....adding a layers palette makes the tool much more complex, which is something I want to be very careful about.
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?Ok, Giacomo, may be you can add a state to groups 'Markup Elements', and when menu item checked, don't show groups with checked this state too?
Very often comments include not only sticky notes, but other elements too...

Hi Martyanov, can you please show me an example (a screenshot) of a comment that cannot be accomplished simply by using the controls in the "Markup" category? It would help me understand your need better. -
Inappropriate?Hi Giacomo, for example:
and
.
In order of row's type, selected in grid, app must show different panels (Frames).
Now for one form I must create one mockup for each row type. Another way - show all frames as comments with sticky note, describes when each type use.
Yes, of course, I can write on note - "for this type use file FileName1.bmml, for that - FileName2.bmml. But... I want to skip a step, as you say in another topic :)

Inappropriate?I have asked for this feature too, but can't find my posting. Whatever is chosen here, I would request that the full view mode not display the annotations (or at least have an option to hide them).
-
For posterity, this part is done: you can hide markup while in full-screen. -
Inappropriate?I agree that full-on layers is unnecessary -- toggling markup would definitely be sufficient especially if you could have the export/print stuff allow you to toggle mockup -- for instance, when exporting to an image or copying to clipboard would be great to be able to choose whether to include the mockup (even if that involves an advanced keyboard combination that one must learn)

Inappropriate?I wonder if you could mark certain kinds of controls as "markup" in the properties window, so you could add controls, maybe per file, maybe per installation. Hmm....
I’m happy

Inappropriate? This would definitely be a nice feature to have. Full-blown layers would be best (as it could be used for other stuff too) but it doesn't necessarily have to go that far... just something to be able to hide all annotations with a simple UI action.
I’m hopeful

Inappropriate?I created an account here specifically to ask/support this feature. Right now, I have a group that I delete, export, undo delete, export again with annotations.
Also, note that Peldi himself uses (and sets an example for others) to use non-annotation elements for notes in his linking mockup. -
Inappropriate?I've thought of some more use cases for this:
1. I want to export mockups as PNG's to include in a document, either:
* with all markup visible in the PNG, or
* with only numbering visible in the PNG, so I can refer to those numbers later in the specification, or
* without any markup at all, assuming I'll add layers and information in the documentation itself.
I’m happy

I like this. I use the number > word-doc-workflow all the time. Its so much better to describe the logic and functionality in a word doc than in the wireframe. -
Inappropriate?Another thing that would be useful for me would be to have notes text in a separate panel, like how comments/notes text in powerpoint can be in a lower panel.
Sometimes I have so many notes on the design that they can start to obscure the view. Of course I can then use callout numbers and put the notes around the side of the mockup, however, this then brings in problems with scrolling to see the note if the mockup is large.
So with this I could put a callout number on the design and have the text always visible in a scrollable panel.
Just a thought....... :)
I’m confident

I believe that managin note-text is not part of mockups-role an core-feature. When writing notes I want all features that a textedor can provide like bulletpoint, color, versioning, ... -- so I use word and I would love to use google wave (http://getsatisfaction.com/balsamiq/t...).
